I provide high quality albums and prints you will be proud to display in your home. My photographic prints have a beautiful texture, albums can be Italian leather, leatherette, velvet or linen. My fine art prints are to die for with their watercolor-like texture and come in a custom linen or leatherette box. I have canvas and canvas groupings that will be stunning on your walls! Let the professional (me!) help you choose what is perfect for your home and lifestyle. And because I know you still need your digital files for back-up and sharing electronically, my collections give you that option as well!

Don't procrastinate printing your images when I can take all the guessing out of the equation and provide you with gorgeous artwork featuring your baby and family. Welcome, I'm Shelly, Your San Diego Newborn Photographer in San Marcos, Ca.

I am a mommy of three fantastic kiddos with loving souls and lots of freckles. I am a wife to my funny, loving husband of 30 years. I am a baby photographer, an artist, and a lover of babies especially. Being with them brings me joy, they are each a precious gift from God and they make me happy.

I am a California native, raised in San Marcos. My favorite classes at SMHS were Genetics and Photography! I received my BA in Physiology from UC San Diego. I worked in the biotech industry for a few years before having my first baby and becoming a stay-at-home-mom.

In 2005 I switched from film to digital and I started my North County, San Diego baby photography business. Now I photograph lovely newborns and children and provide you with quality newborn photography to treasure forever.

Frequently Asked Questions
How old should my baby be for a session?
I like to photograph babies when they are 5-21 days new. Babies are usually pretty sleepy and pose-able during this time period. If baby is older, I still encourage a newborn-style session up until 8 weeks. Sometimes parents and babies need a bit more time at home before venturing out. I can understand that!
How do I book a session?
Fill out my contact form at the bottom of this page or send me an e-mail at shelly@shellyrosen.com to get the ball rolling. I will check my availability for your due date and send you additional imformation.
What is the scheduling/session process?
Contact Shelly and choose a session type. Place a deposit and when baby arrives please text me. We will schedule a specific date. Arrive, have a cold drink, relax and watch the magic happen. Review images with Shelly at your reveal appointment and purchase your digital image files and heirloom art. Laugh, cry and enjoy your beautiful baby-art!
Where does the session take place?
My San Diego photography studio is located in San Marcos, California. My North County San Diego location is super convenient and just a few blocks off of the 78 freeway. I am very near Carlsbad, Vista, Oceanside and Escondido. I also serve clients from Rancho Bernardo, Poway, Fallbrook and all over San Diego, Riverside and Orange County.
How much does a session cost?
Overall, clients generally invest $550-$1550 per session. There is a wide range of product options so you can choose what you love most and what fits your family.
Do you offer other types of photo sessions?
Yes! I photography baby from newborn to a 1 year cake smash and beyond! Typically, a baby would be photographed at the newborn stage, at the sitting stage, and for a 1 year cake smash! Come back for the half birthday and 2 year birthday as well. Let's document those milestones! They are only tiny for such a short time. Sessions for children as well.

Newborn baby sessions take place in my studio in San Marcos, Ca. Newborn photography sessions are best scheduled for within baby's first 5-21 days, while baby is still fresh, soft, and curly. If circumstances do not allow for this, newborn sessions are still encouraged but may take on a less sleepy, less posed look.

My San Diego newborn photography studio is filled with beautiful props such as antique buckets, wooden bowls, baskets and crates in which I pose your baby gently and safely. I also have a huge supply of neutral and colorful wraps, blankets, flokati rugs, bonnets and hats in my San Marcos newborn photography studio that I use to style your baby photo session. Let me know your favorite colors and I will do the rest!

Baby photography includes milestone sessions to celebrate baby being able to sit-up and birthday cake smash sessions that celebrate baby's first birthday!
